De-Stress Zone
Want to relax? Lower your heart rate? Learn meditation or breathing techniques? Then visit The De-Stress Zone & Exploratorium on the main level of The Penn Stater Conference Center Hotel. The De-Stress Zone, a collaboration between The Penn Stater and the Mind/Body Technologies Group of the Penn State College of Education, is designed to be a self-guided Exploratorium with directions at each station. Sit down at a computer, secure the headphones and finger sensors, and track your body’s energy levels as you navigate the mystical landscapes of three of the Journey to the Wild Divine software programs: The Passage, Wisdom Quest, and Healing Rhythms. Transform stress and anxiety into energy by utilizing the emwave PC Interactive Learning System. Visualize the wavelike activity of your heart rate while synchronizing your breathing to attain deep relaxation with the Stress Eraser. Try the Sleep Headphones, created by one of Penn State’s physicians, Wei-Shin Lai, that help you fall asleep while listening to nature sounds mixed with sound technology that guides your brain to sleep. Connect to an iPod and select one of many options of meditations and music. Finally, a definite visitor favorite, experience the music-visualization system known as G-Force, which involves relaxing in a comfortable recliner while watching artistic and mesmerizing patterns morph to the rhythms of the selected music. The hours are generally 8am to 10pm daily if you would like to come explore opportunities to lower your stress levels.
